Taiwan golden-rain tree at Toucheng Farm

At the side of Toucheng Farm's fish pond grows a tall, strong, and healthy tree. It is blooming at this time of the year. They grow not only at the entrance of the Farm but also at the play ground near the rice paddies.

What's so special about this tree? It's the Golden-rain tree. It is native to Taiwan. It's scientific name speaks clearly: Koelreuteria formosana. Formosa was the old name of Taiwan. It is also the county tree of Yilan County.

The flowers of this tree is a tiny butter-yellow color with 5 petals. While its fruit is an inflated papery capsule that splits into 3 parts and changes from light pink to deep rose color. It's very interesting to see them around Toucheng Farm now as both flowers and fruits can be seen at the same tree. Each tree is identified with a description just like this ! It can grow as tall as 25 - 50 feet high.

And to top it all, look at this fallen flowers and fruits , swimming at the fish pond with the carps and tilapia, for us to appreciate its beauty closely.

Toucheng Farm can offer to those who love to see nature as its nearness and depth. We also have comfortable accomodations and sumptous meals for those who want to stay for 2 or 3 nights. For more information, please visit our website: www.tcfarm.com.tw .
