Syzygium samarangense

Look at this luster of fruits, does it look delicious to you? It is!

This fruit is a summer favorite, juicy and sweet.

Its flower is used as medicine to treat fever or diarrhea in Taiwan, the older folks can tell  you how!

Now they found a new way so we can eat it all year round, dark red and bigger one's, too!

It is bell-shaped, and sometimes called "Black Pearl or  "Black diamond" in some places.

Here at Toucheng Leisure Farm, they just fall to the ground and we even feed the water buffaloes which enjoy it sweet taste!

You can pick it up from the trees and bring a basket full home!

When are you coming?

Abelmoschus esculentus

Toucheng Leisure Farm has a plantation of this plant in its garden.
This is the flower of this plant which  has pleasantly sound name: "lady's finger" or commonly called
okra!
Okra is a flowering plant which turn into an edible green seed pods where inside you'll find  round white seeds. Only immature fruits are harvested and eaten as vegetables. Various countries grow and called it differently, but if you say "okra" you will be clearly understood!
Have you ever tasted okra?
It is a nutritious food rich in Vitamin C and has a high fiber content. It is an antioxidant and an excellent weight loss agent because its both fat and cholesterol free! A good source of calcium and potassium as well.
(Thanks to Wikipedia for the information).

If you want to taste okra and see its flowering plant, visit us and see it yourself.

Welcome

Stichophthalma howqua formosana

Can  you see a living, flying thing in this picture?

Look closer, closer....
What a beauty!
Count how many dots are there in its wings! Can you?

That's the butterfly with a special long name. As the name suggests, it is a native of Formosa, Taiwan's original name.

2012 Summer Camp, 1st batch (July 3-8)

Several children mostly living in Taipei, participated the first batch of the 2012 Summer Camp at Toucheng Leisure Farm.

After dinner, they pasted, wrote their wishes and lighted the sky lantern.

One of the newly planned activity this year was the fish pond "rafting". Look at them as they prepared and launched the DIY " raft" themselves.

Do you wish to have the same fun? Come to Toucheng Leisure Farm and we will plan the best activity for your family or group.

Summer Camp's 2nd batch is next week: July 10 - 14.
