Bamboo (Phyllostachys makinoi hayata)

Toucheng Leisure Farm is very lucky bamboo grows at in its vast area. The scientific name of this specie is Phyllostachys makinoi hayata, named after the Japanese botanist Dr. Hayata who discovered it. Is bamboo a tree or plant (grass)?




Bamboos are one of the world's fastest growing plants. It is proven that they can grow around 120 cm. tall in 24 hours period!




The bamboo forest at Toucheng Leisure Farm is not only a factory of raw materials for our DIY activities, it is also a source of food (bamboo shoots), but most of all a special place to visit.
