Here is the picture of the newly born just a few days old, beside the mother cow.
Asian domestic water buffalo, (Bubalus bubalis) is a useful animal and a farmer's best friend!
Their dung is used as fertilizer and when dried can be used as fuel.
An adult water buffalo can grow up to 300 - 600 kilograms. Females (cow) can weigh up to 800kg. and males (bull) up to 1,200 kg.
Their gestation period is 10 - 11 months. They usually give birth to single offspring but twins can be possible. Their sexual maturity varies, for bulls it takes 18 months but for cows it could take up to 3 years.
