Chinese New Year - 1

A long, long time ago, Buddha invited all the animals of the earth to bid him farewell before his departure (from earth). But only twelve animals came over. As a reward, their names were written each year in the order of their arrival.

This is the origin of the Chinese Zodiac very famous today. Here are the 12 animals ( 12 types of personalities ). Rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

Here at Toucheng Farm, we have bamboo and wood craft activities, look at this Chinese girl showing proudly her finished product. They are the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.

The most important traditional Chinese holiday is the Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival. The English speaking nations call it the Lunar New Year.

As Chinese New Year is just two weeks away, I will give you a thorough explanation of this awaited moment in the Chinese Community.

This year 2010 is the year of the Tiger.

This DIY bamboo and wood craft welcomes you at the Counter of Toucheng Farm as you enter. Can you identify them? You should come personally to touch them or maybe make one yourself. We will teach you how to make them!

Taiwan as an area where ethnic Chinese community lives, Lunar New Year is grandiosely celebrated.

Here at Toucheng Farm, we celebrate it just like when you were at Grandma's place! (Just like going home for the Christmas holidays!) Eating your favorite dumplings, rice cakes, etc..at grandma's kitchen or hearing those deafening firecrackers... playing with your brothers or cousins...and most of all counting the number of red envelops you received!
Sounds fun! Welcome to Tocuheng Farm to enjoy the Chinese New Year Holidays!
