Taiwan's custom (Chinese Ghost FestivaL)

The Chinese Ghost Festival is a month long event. It is celebrated on the 7th month of the Lunar Calandar.

The Ghost festival starts on the 1st day when the gates of hell is openned and the hungry ghosts will come out to haunt the living, eat good food, drink rice wine and collect ghosts' money!

What will the living do to appease the ghosts and guard himself? There are 3 important things to do:

     1. Burn incense and ask for protection in a Chinese temple.

      2. Buy and burn ghost money (joss paper) in front of one's house or shop.

     3. Set a table outside one's house or shop and put some food in it, food can be eaten afterwards.

At the end of the Ghost month, people pray, burn some stuff, food and drinks are offered before the gates of hell are closed. Make sure all the ghosts are well-fed, happy and rich---till next year!

Toucheng Leisure Farm in accordance with this custom, also offer some food and drinks for the wandering ghosts.
