Tung Flower (Aleurites fordii)

Tung Oil tree is a native of South China, Burma and northern Vietnam. sometimes it is called Wood oil tree and in Taiwan they are called " Snow in May"!

Why so?

The Hakka group in Taiwan and the Tung tree are closely related to each other due to it's economic (crop) value. Around April each year, the Tung tree blooms billions of flowers and its white blooms cover the many mountains in Taiwan like snow! Then, it's time for the Hakka to celebrate the yearly Hakka Tung Flower Festival.

Here at Toucheng Farm, we have a lone tree which blooms at this time of the year, so we are lucky to have a glimpse of this famous and lovely flower.

But take note, All of the tree's parts are poisonous, especially the fruits and seeds, although they were used as medicine before.

Make sure no one consume it as food!

Thanks to Wikipedia for the information.
