New arrival - water buffalo calf
Water buffaloes are very essential to our Farm. Traditionally, they are a Farmer's helper
at the rice paddies.
Nowadays, water buffaloes provide us with milk which are processed to make the soft cheese like Mozzarella in Italy. Water buffaloes' milk has high content of fatty acids and proteins. Watered-down buffalo milk is used as a cheaper alternative to regular milk.
Water buffaloes can also affect our environment in two ways, positively or negatively:
Positively - they ca manage uncontrolled vegetation growth in and around natural wetlands.
Negatively - in uncontrolled circumstances, they can cause environmental damage such as trampling vegetation, disturb birds and reptile nestling sites and spread exotic weeds.
(Thanks to Wikipedia for the information).
This month we are blessed with a new arrival at Toucheng Leisure Farm - a water buffalo calf,
an additional to the family!
They give pleasure to the numerous guests who come and watch them soak at the pool or feed them with grasses growing at the Farm.
